Nikola Jokic packs a triple as the Nuggets beat the Kings




Nikola Jokic bagged his 15th triple of the season with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists as he helped the Denver Nuggets beat the Sacramento Kings 115-110 in the NBA Continuation at Ball Arena, Colorado, Saturday local time (Sunday WIB).


Aaron Gordon added 23 points, Marcus Morris scored 21 points, Will Barton had 13 points and Bones Hyland contributed 11 points to extend the Nuggets' winning streak to five straight games.


De'Aaron Fox had 26 points and 10 assists for the visitors, followed by Harrison Barnes' 24, Justin Holiday's 15 and Domantas Sabonis' double with 14 points and 16 rebounds, but the Kings failed to avoid losing four games in a row, the NBA's official website notes.


The Nuggets gripped the game for most of the first two quarters before the Kings forced the first half to a 59-59 draw.


King even had a chance to create a seven-point lead when Sabonis' hook shot with two minutes 23 seconds left in the third quarter to make it 84-77, but the Nuggets responded with a streak of 8-1 points to close the period with a score of 85-85.


About two minutes into the closing quarter, the Nuggets were slightly away from 94-85 when Bryn Forbes converted two free throws but the Kings put up a fierce fight and even took the lead twice, 95-94 and 104-102.


The score was 110-110 still in sight as the game entered the last minute until Morris hit a triple point to put the Nuggets ahead 113-110 and the Kings' effort to retaliate ended with Sabonis's missed layup paving the way for the hosts to seal the win with two Jokic free throws.


The Nuggets still have one game scheduled this week with a visit to the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday local time (Monday WIB), while the Kings travel to the Oklahoma City Thunder a day later.
